- If your last passport was issued in or after 2005 and it is expired / damaged / mutilated / lost and non-transferable, you can apply for a Re-issued Passport (New Book) on the Passport Seva Portal. This option also applies if name has been changed due to marriage etc., then only an additional fee of Rs 3,500/- along with MRF may be paid at the time of submission at any PSKs so as to avoid further inconvenience for collecting applications from PSKs by applicants themselves who come with their documents required for grant of fresh passports i.e. application form prescribed under Rule 4(1)(a), photograph etc.,
- If your last passport was issued before 2005 but it is still valid & all pages are intact then no need to apply again because these old passports are still valid until they expire and they cannot be used as Identity Proof Documents unless they are damaged/mutilated/lost or non-transferable; In such cases please contact nearest Passport Office where this old book was issued so that further instructions can be provided by them over phone or email id mentioned in your existing valid travel document which contains current address details verified by Post Office Telephone Directory (POtD) Number shown therein
